How to: The viflow explorer
viflow has an explorer that you can use to make working in viflow faster and more organized. We would like to show you how to use the explorer here.
What is the Explorer?
The viflow Explorer is a useful tool in which all objects of the entire viflow process model are displayed. Not only the main viflow objects – processes, information, areas – are listed here, but also all other objects, such as key figures, graphic templates, users, groups or types.
How to open the viflow Explorer
Click in the View tab on the Explorer button. This is then displayed as the Explorer tab in the main window.
Content, view and navigation
In the viflow Explorer, all objects of the process model are displayed in four standard columns: Name, Folder, Creation date and Last edited. The sorting can be changed by clicking on the title column. By right-clicking on the title bar, you can configure the view and show or hide individual columns.
Double-clicking opens either a folder or a graphic.
There is a navigation bar at the top of the viflow Explorer in which the navigation path is displayed. Click on the individual elements to call up the content. If you click on the arrow symbol next to the name, a list appears with all the elements subordinate to the object that can be opened or displayed with a click.
If you want to jump back one level, click on the up arrow in front of the navigation bar.
Via the context menu – list, you have various options for how the objects should be displayed in the Explorer.
Select multiple objects
In principle, the viflow Explorer offers many possibilities, as only here are all objects in the process model displayed and multiple selection and editing of objects is possible. The following applications should therefore only be understood as an example.
- Open the folder or view in which the desired objects are located.
- Click on the individual elements with the left mouse button while holding down the [CTRL]-key or select parts of a list by holding down the left mouse button and pressing the [SHIFT]-key at the same time.
- Now click on the selection with the right mouse button to open the context menu and carry out further actions – e.g. copy, cut or delete.
Change properties of multiple objects
- Open the folder or view in which the desired objects are located.
- Select the desired objects.
- Right-click on the selection and select Properties. The properties window opens.
- Now change the properties of the previously selected objects.
Note: Please note that the properties differ depending on the selected object type. The properties that can be changed when multiple objects are selected also vary accordingly.
Move objects using drag-and-drop
You can move individual or multiple objects directly from the viflow Explorer to other windows – provided they are compatible with each other. If moving is not possible, a corresponding "prohibition sign" will appear.
- Open the windows that you require (the viflow Explorer and, for example, the Processes window).
- Select the objects that are to be moved from one window to the other.
- Left-click on the selected objects, hold down the button and drag them to the desired folder in the other window.
