April 18 and 21, 2025 are public holidays in Germany. Our office will therefore be closed on these days.
From April 22nd we will be there for you as usual.
With a few small tricks, working with our process modeling tool viflow can be greatly simplified.
The numbering of processes helps you to find your way around more complex graphics. We would like to show you the different types of numbering here.
Note: Only process and decision symbols can be numbered in the process graphic.
This setting is saved for each graphic. For example, you can hide or remove the numbering in a process map and display the numbering in the subordinate process graphics.
Under the View tab – Numbering group, you can edit the Numbering and perform the following actions:
You can find a video on this topic on our YouTube channel viflow.tv.
By default, the individual process and decision symbols on the drawing sheet are automatically numbered horizontally, i.e. from left to right and from top to bottom. Alternatively, you can set automatic vertical numbering.
This is the default setting. Numbering takes place automatically from left to right and from top to bottom.
Numbering is first carried out from left to right and then from top to bottom.
Example: The processes in the top swimlane are numbered first, followed by those in the second, third and so on.
If you require a special sequence of numbers, processes and decisions can also be numbered manually:
Clicking on the Remove option in the View tab – Numbering removes the numbering in the graphic and in the process structure.
The Right to Left option in the View tab – Numbering group rotates the numbering direction.
The numbering on the graphic can be hidden using the Hide option in the View tab – Numbering group.
Note: The numbering of the objects in the process graphics and the display in the Process structure window are displayed independently of each other. This means that the numbering can be hidden in the graphic but be visible in the tree (Process Structure window).
If the Show numbering checkbox is selected under File - Options - Interface - Process structure, the individual processes are listed in the Process Structure window according to the numbering used in the process graphics. This option is activated by default, as the numbering – especially for larger process models – provides a better overview in the window.
