25 years of ViCon – ViCon's new clothes

A quarter of a century is a long time, but it goes by surprisingly quickly. ViCon celebrates its anniversary in December and we would like to take this opportunity to look back on "25 years of ViCon" in a five-part series.

In the fourth part, we look at the "late" years from 2014–2018:

25 years of ViCon – ViCon's new clothes

Moving on, we are in 2014. Our team had grown to 25 people – four of whom had already completed their training with us, three others were just starting out. The office in Oldenburger Allee, where we moved in 2001, would have been bursting at the seams long ago if we hadn't gradually expanded the premises over the last few years.

We used the last office extension for a few conversions and a thorough renovation of the rooms. Since then, the relaxation room and the roof terrace with – most importantly – a barbecue have been particularly popular.

Fresh from the changing room

We also made changes elsewhere. Our ViFlow – currently still in version 5 – was also eagerly developed further and the time had come at the beginning of 2016. The sixth generation of viflow was released with a technical and visual overhaul – that's right, "viflow" and not "ViFlow", but more on that later.

In addition to many new and improved functions, there were small revolutions – at last Visio was fully integrated into the user interface, at last there was only one menu. This eliminated the confusion of menu items that plagued us and the users from time to time. viflow Reporter was also integrated and reports could be opened directly from the menu with viflow 6.

But it wasn't just the technical side of things that had changed. Our marketing department had taken advantage of the viflow 6 release and dedicated itself to our outfit in advance – everything was turned inside out, shaken out and sorted. The old braids were removed and ViCon was given a new look from head to toe. Website, logos, printed products – everything back to square one.

The software was also given a new logo. We said goodbye to the somewhat outdated elongated "F", which was supposed to symbolize two swimlanes, and also took the opportunity to delete the capital letters in the lettering (so you could type faster …). The child was now simply called viflow!

Simple? There was something else.

Do you remember Anna?

In 2014, an acting student from Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts played an office worker in a number of commercials, or rather in the series "Einfach Anna", who – completely unsuspecting, of course – was suddenly given the task of modeling processes by her boss. And with ViFlow (!) this was of course very easy! We all had a lot of fun during the filming and hopefully "Anna" did too.

All about quality

2014 also saw the launch of the QMC (Quality Management Conference), which we hosted in Hanover's Congress Centrum. The event has taken place three times over the years with many exhibitors, partners and interested parties. Quality is a perennial topic, then as now.

And what else was there?

Our add-ons also started almost ten years ago. Task management with viflow easy plan and document management with viflow DMS are still integral parts of the viflow family today.

And then? In 2018, we were suddenly twenty years old! Everyone had been on fire recently – so the birthday Christmas party with a few days in the snow came just in time and was a fantastic way to cool down.

The turbulent years that followed until the big anniversary in December 2023 follow in the fifth and final part of this series …
