viflow at CONTACT Software

CONTACT Software uses viflow both within the company and at customers in conjunction with its own solutions. Internally, documentation in the project business is an important area of application; externally, the focus is on process consulting for customers.

CONTACT's Project Management Office (PMO) uses viflow to document internal business processes in Professional Services and other central areas. The process map is constantly growing, as is the team of process managers. The SQL server variant of viflow is used for this purpose, which supports distributed work across different departments.

CONTACT Software uses its own project management solution for agile, hybrid or classic project execution. Project managers use it to manage the planning, control and execution of customer projects. Due to the often complex tasks, it is very important for the project managers to always have the documentation at hand in a practical manner. Here, the PMO relies on an integrated solution from viflow with CONTACT Project Office.

The process descriptions are modeled in viflow in a simple and understandable way, i.e. only as detailed as necessary. Project Office controls the process flow and manages the operational elements of the process description. In customer projects, these are, for example, actual project templates, checklists, quality gates, open issues, responsibilities and activities. A link in both directions enables users to jump from both systems to both systems in a targeted manner.

Tool for process consulting

CONTACT's product portfolio focuses on consistent applications for product lifecycle management (PLM), cross-company collaboration, project management and the industrial Internet of Things (IoT). In customer projects, viflow is used to analyze the actual processes as well as to define the future target processes. The defined process steps are mapped to CONTACT's software solutions.

Particularly in intensive consulting projects, the BPM tool helps to present complex processes clearly. viflow supports this with standard views such as Swimlane or Turtle diagrams. This creates a high level of transparency for all project participants with regard to the customer's processes and IT landscape.

The process descriptions thus provide essential input for the successful implementation of customer projects. From these, CONTACT determines, among other things, the mapping of old applications to the new solution architecture, or defines the future data model, workflows, roles, authorizations, and much more.
