The entire ViCon team is highly motivated and committed to viflow and the concerns of those interested in viflow on a daily basis. In our series "We introduce" we regularly tell you more about the people at ViCon.
Today we introduce Oliver Wagner, employee in viflow support:
Oliver joined us almost seven years ago in January 2017 and had previously worked in building security for many years. IT was already his hobby back then and also because a lot there revolves around the topic of security, Oliver has become an important pillar of our customer support.
"As I have always been very interested in IT, the career change and familiarization with the viflow world was very easy for me – not least because of the helpful and energetic support of my ViCon colleagues.
The work in support is extremely versatile and surprises me almost daily with new challenges. In addition to handling "normal" support requests, I install our viflow add-ons on customer systems along with the required environment, for example SQL Server or IIS from Microsoft. I also support our sales team when special technical questions arise during customer meetings.
Since there are hardly two identical IT systems, tracking down and reproducing errors makes up a large part of my work.
When and during which action does an error occur? Which systems are used, is the error reproducible? In order to reproduce occurring scenarios at the user's site as accurately as possible, sometimes very complex test systems have to be set up. The challenge is to look beyond viflow and to familiarize oneself with other systems and platforms. Knowing and supporting only viflow and our addons is not enough – all topics around web servers, SQL, Active Directory or Microsoft Azure have become daily companions.
A small detail, some wrongly set hook in a setting, can decide whether everything works error-free or nothing works at all. It's fun to get to the bottom of these things and it's nice to see how the results of this work flow directly into software development. In this way, everyone on the support team contributes something to improving the software and being able to offer customers quick and effective solutions when problems and errors arise."
