Whitepaper: Successfully Mastering Digitization Projects with the Business Architecture Model (BAM)

In order to make inland navigation more digital and efficient, the research project SINLOG was launched. In this project, ViCon partner PMMG, together with BearingPoint, Fraunhofer FIT (Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology), Port of Trier, MSG eG and the German Federal Association of Public Inland Ports (Bundesverband Öffentlicher Binnenhäfen e. V.), is evaluating possibilities for the digital exchange of freight information and block-chain-supported networking of the logistics chain surrounding inland shipping.

In this context, PMMG developed the Business Architecture Model (BAM) to enable the structured recording, presentation and networking of a wide range of information in complex environments.

With this process modeling approach for digitization projects, business requirements can be recorded in a goal-oriented manner and relevant information in the BAM can be easily communicated to the project participants. In addition, chains of argumentation for recommended actions can be built up and necessary management decisions can be made to find and implement the appropriate IT solution for digitization. In the SINLOG project the BAM was implemented with viflow.

PMMG has been a partner of ViCon for many years.

PMMG

PMMG's vision is quite simple: The success of its customers is its top priority.
Based on the core values of substance, diversity and partnership, PMMG has been delivering innovative ideas and sustainable results for its customers in its core competencies CONSULTING and LEARNING for 20 years.

The core competence CONSULTING is divided into two areas:
In BUSINESS PERFORMANCE PMMG analyses chances and risks for the business model of the client from a strategic and operational point of view.
In PROJEKT DELIVERY, PMMG develops pragmatic project solutions together with the client, taking into account his opportunities and risks, and optimizes the relevant business processes within the business unit or the entire company.
PMMG attaches particular importance to making improvements in practical application measurable and to making positive effects perceptible for the users.

To this end, PMMG draws on consulting references in the key sectors of payment, industry, mobility, aviation, trade and the public sector.

PMMG's consultants are process management users (BPM practitioners) themselves and have been using viflow in their process modeling projects since the beginning. They use all solutions and recommendations for action themselves on a daily basis and thus provide advice based on their own experience.
According to their value "partnership", cooperation with customers and partners is part of PMMG's DNA.
